Chromecast & Netgear DNS Setup for Smart DNS Proxy

Important: These instructions are for advanced users who are comfortable to change router settings. If settings get corrupted, you can always revert back with resetting your router. So please make sure to take a note of your current settings.

Chromecast does not allow to change DNS configurations. In order to use Chromecast with Smart DNS Proxy you need to set your router DNS settings for Smart DNS Proxy. Click here to find general router DNS setup instructions for Smart DNS Proxy.

The idea behind using Chromecast with Smart DNS Proxy is the same with any kind of router models as following:

1. Setup your router with Smart DNS Proxy DNS IPs. (This allows your router to use Smart DNS Proxy for DNS)
2. Setup Static Routing on your Router. (Chromecast uses Google DNS as default and it can not be changed. With static routing we force your router to route google dns IPs to Smart DNS Proxy)
