Roku Setup for Smart DNS Proxy

1. Roku doesn't have advanced network settings and the only option to use it with Smart DNS Proxy is updating your DNS settings in your router. Please find router configuration details in our How to Setup page. With router setup all your devices in the network connected to your router gets access to Smart DNS Proxy.

2. Also with the new Roku updates some applications like Netflix forces to use Google DNS IPs which blocks Netflix to work with Smart DNS Proxy. In order to bypass this issue, you need to set "Static IP Routing" on your router. With this your router redirect every Google DNS requests to Smart DNS Proxy IPs and Netflix will work properly. Please find router configuration details for Static IP Routing.

Roku Account

Every Roku device needs to be "linked" to user's account at https://owner.roku.com/

Important: You must create account from the computer BEFORE starting activation of Roku device. DO NOT create account if Roku box asks you to create new one, it may be created incorrectly and won't show you new apps. If your device does not show US "channels" then you'll need to create new account, do "factory reset" and "link" device to that account.

Recently, Roku started asking users' billing address and uses it to select apps available through Channel Store.

In order to setup Roku account "compatible" with US channels you need to select "United States" as country and use ZIP code made of digits from postal code of your actual billing address.

You should be able to use any US ZIP code. ie: 90224, 90245, 50322.

If you have already setup Netflix or Vudu account then you can use the same ZIP and card or PayPal account. Note, PayPal account must have credit card with a US billing address.

Attention

Make sure to RESTART your Roku Device!

* Remember whenever your Roku/Router IP changes, our service will stop working for you. You will need to LOG INTO Smart DNS Proxy and UPDATE your IP address so that our system could check your IP address and add your new IP to our database. Then, you will be able to continue using our service. If this is the first time you set up, we also suggest you to log in with your PC to our site from the same Wired/Wireless network to show our system your IP address.
